C-U ACROSS THE PRAIRIE RIDE (CUAP), Prairie Cycle Club’s 46th Annual Cycling Extravaganza, is scheduled for Saturday August 26, 2017 and will coincide with downtown Urbana’s annual Sweet Corn Festival Register now

A portion of the ride’s proceeds will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity. Those registering before the day of the ride will be entered into a drawing for gift certificates from Durst Cycle and Champaign Surplus

Ride choices from 25, 45, 65, 100 miles, over flat to gently rolling terrain (maps here).
and a 7 mile family ride departing at 10am

Registration and Departure point: Parasol Records, 303 W Griggs, Urbana IL, 7-10am, although 100 mi riders should leave by 7:30am and 63 mi riders should leave by 9:00 am.

The day will start with an oatmeal/bagel bar (7-930am) with all the trimmings brown sugar, bananas, raisins, other fruit and milk at Parasol Records. It’s a sustaining breakfast, and we’ll also have bagels and fruit. There will be snack stops on the route if you need refueling during the ride. At the finish, your wristband (for 25+ mi riders) will entitle you to join the pizza lunch, a refreshing finish for your ride.

The Ride will also provide support services, marked route, maps, and a GPS downloadable route that you can follow on your GPS device.

All riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
The Prairie Cycle Club strongly encourages all riders to wear helmets.

Call For volunteers We need volunteers to help with the ride, starting around 6:00 AM on ride day. The various easy-to-do jobs involve setting up, staffing and dismantling the registration areas and and rest stops. Volunteers can participate in the ride before or after their shifts. Ride fees are waived for all volunteers. Rest stop volunteers might wish to bicycle to and from their assignments. Directions and Parking: The ride starts from Parasol Records, 303 W Griggs in Urbana (Map). To get from I-74 to University and Race: (Zoom out on the map to see I-74.) Exit at either the Lincoln Av or Route 45 exits and head south approx 1.5 miles towards University Avenue. From Lincoln turn left(east) onto University; from Route 45 turn right (west) onto University for one block. Once at University and Race, turn south onto Race. Make first right onto Griggs. Then take first right just past Parasol Records onto Central which dead ends into the CUAP parking area.

Post-ride options:
(a) Pizza meal and drinks (for 25+ mile riders), 11am-2pm, at the departure point (Parasol Records) and/or
(b) A 5 minute stroll or one minute ride to the Urbana Sweet Corn Festival for lunch from various vendor booths or at a downtown Urbana eatery. There will be secure bicycle parking at Parasol Records until 5pm. Cyclists can also lock their bikes at the parking garage at Main and Broadway in downtown Urbana. All riders (including family riders) will recieve a coupon for a free ear of corn at the Sweetcorn Festival, compliments of the Urbana Business Association
