Prairie Cycle Club’s Annual Cycling Extravaganza, C-U ACROSS THE PRAIRIE RIDE, is scheduled Aug 24, 2013 and will coincide with downtown Urbana’s annual Sweet Corn Festival. Registration fees for the non-family rides have been reduced $5 from last year !!
Ride choices: 10 mile leisurely ride (great for families), 29 mile (one loop), 34 mile (a second loop) and 63 mile (both loops) over flat to gently rolling terrain
Bagel breakfast, prizes and surprises, and SAG vehicle support until 2PM.
** A Prairie Cycle Club led group ride over the ten mile route will depart at 9am
All pre-registrants for the 29, 34, and 63-mile rides will have a chance to win t-shirts, helmets, and $25 gift certificates to Durst Cycle & Fitness and Champaign Cycle. But you need to register by noon on Friday to be eligible for the drawing, as we are drawing the winners Friday afternoon. You can pick up your winnings when you check in on Saturday.
Volunteers needed to staff the departure point, rest stops, sag wagons, and to setup and clean-up. Click here to view the needed tasks and/or to sign on as a volunteer.
Departure point: Crystal Lake Park Main Pavilion, Urbana, IL
Directions: Map Enter the park from one of the entrances along Park St on the park’s south side: Central St and park along the road; or the entry to the east, Race St (which may be marked on the Google map as Co R 1350 E), and park in the lot. The open-air pavilion will be clearly visible. From I74: Exit at either Lincoln Av or Route 45 exits and head south appox 1.5 miles towards University Avenue. (Zoom out on the map to see I74)
On-site registration 7–10 AM
10 mile ride: $5/household
Longer rides: before/after Aug. 15th, 2013 PCC members $10/$15, non-members $15/$20.
Children under 12 on a longer ride accompanied by an adult are free.
Register on-line or with 2013 printable registration form. (No fee for on-line registration. On line registration available until noon August 23)

(a) Snacks and drinks at the departure point and/or
(b) A 10 minute stroll or three minute ride to the Urbana Sweet Corn Festival for lunch from various vendor booths or at a downtown Urbana eatery. Attendant guarded bicycle parking available on the ground level of the parking deck at Main and Broadway.
(c) Riders may also stop at the Sweetcorn Festival, conveniently placed 1/2 mile from the end of one of the longer ride loops.
All riders under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
The Prairie Cycle Club strongly encourages all riders to wear helmets.
