Perrysville, Labor Day!

Perrysville Ride

Perrysville, Indiana - Monday 9/1/2007 (Labor Day, of course!)
Unsupported, Unsanctioned and unbeatable fun!!
_____

Time: 9:00 am ride time (Illinois Time!) (depart CU by 8:00 am)

Start: Perrysville, IN city park. Leave C-U by 8 AM. Drive east on I-74 to Indiana exit #4, Route 63. Go south on Route 63 for 4 miles to IN Route 32. Turn left/east to Perrysville. At the first and only stop sign in Perrysville (it's a big town; if you cross the river you've missed the turn) turn right and go south for a few blocks to the park, on the right.
There will be riders there. If you're late... be sure to print out a map. (I'm going to try to bring some but don't want to promise ;) There are two options: the 'traditional' one to Turkey Run State Park and a new route vetted last October by some of PCC's finest which will take you by covered bridges to Montezuma that googlemaps tells me is about 62 miles. Looks like it goes up and down a lot too :)

Covered Bridge Route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2199350 for the google-maps version; the colored you-can-even-see-the-hills version from Buz Bailey is at http://picasaweb.google.com/buz.bailey/CyclingRoutes in two pieces.

If you want to stick to 'tradition' - Turkey Run Route INfo: A simple map is online at http://www.resourceroom.net/pcc/perrysville.jpg - there is a confusing turn (where the road seems like you *should* go straight) so watch for it, but we've never completely lost anybody! This is the "old route" but some bad roads have been resurfaced.

No sag. No rest stops. Take the chance! (and bring a cell phone ;) )

There is no specified pace, but groups have hung together even on the hills. Organize riding buddies for the pace you want to ride. Or don't organize them and just go. If you'd like, bring your own soap & water for washing up afterwards, though they've never run us out of the Moonglo.

Food: Eat a good breakfast. Carry water and snacks, as places to get food and drink are very limited. However, you'll want to work up an appetite because The good food will be afterwards at the Moonglo, (from Perrysville travel west on IN 32, which becomes county HWY 6 or 'Perrysville Road' in Illinois - continue to the Moonglo, always longer than I think it will be, which is at a 4-way stop), about 2.5 miles southeast of Danville.
Moonburgers are huge. Share one with a friend... or even two friends ;)

See you there!

Help with Safe Routes to School!

Key words - Ask for a YES vote on Senate Bill 2311 in
committee this Wednesday.

Please read and make a call to your state senator to keep the money for
bike trails and safe routes to schools. Illinois is dragging 'way behind other states in this effort to make it feasible for people to walk or bicycle to school.

If you are not sure who your senator is use this locator at
